Greatest Britons: Britons and Romans – GB 1028208

Sven Longshanks and Max Musson discuss what went on in Britain between the Julian wars and the Claudian invasion attempt. The Britons succeeded in defeating Julius Caesar, who left not one Roman soldier on the island and returned to Gaul empty handed. This never before seen defeat of the Roman empire left the Roman army terrified of returning, which the Britons soon capitalised on by lining the channel with a fleet of battle ships and getting tariffs reduced on goods sent into Gaul. Joseph of Arimathea and his crew of Apostles are reputed to have settled in the country during this period as Britain was outside the empire and away from Roman persecution.
